The Light Workers Way

PSYCHIC & WELLBEING EXPO

Hi Everyone,

Thank you for joining us once again at our wonderful Psychic & Wellbeing Expo . It seems like ages since we were together even though it has only been a few months and we are so looking forward to our day.

Autumn is one of my favourite times of the year when the weather gentles away from the harsh summer sun and you feel the urge to clean up the garden in preparation for winter and prepare the home for colder weather.

In more ancient times we would be stocking the larder and taking in the last of the harvest and making jams, chutneys and pickles, storing root vegetables and fruit, and now we can even freeze some of our abundance from the veggie patch.

Just because we don't have to do any of these things now, it is still such a good feeling to have a go at one or more of them, for there is nothing quite like a row of jam jars full to the brim with delicious tasting jam that you have made and then handing them out to family and friends. When you open one yourself there is a great deal of satisfaction and a feeling of pride to know that this has come from your garden or a friends, and that you have prepared this yourself. My contribution this year has been to make some plum jam and I still have some frozen broad beans in the freezer.

I started thinking about a winter project that will fit the bill as it requires only time and perhaps a cool afternoon or four. I still have a jumper to finish off for one of the grandkids from last year (if I don't get it done soon she will have outgrown it!) and I started refashioning a jumper which I want to make into a cardigan for me which I would like to see finished as well. Maureen is starting to get all her patchwork bits and pieces together as she has been promising herself to take up the needle again and create. She says that patchwork is such a satisfying diversion and a very forgiving craft in that, even a mistake can be worked into the “block” being created and it then simply becomes a part of the design.

This is a bit like ourselves and our lives in that, all the so-called mistakes we make, or think we make, go to create our life design and we can see from our first “block”, how our own particular manner of weaving and wafting, of selecting our colours and fabrics, of blending or contrasting them, of matching or offsetting them gives our lives the depth and breath that allows the light and shade of our selves to come to the fore and along the way causes our Spirits, our Hearts, our Minds to expand and contract, and combines with our emotions to create the very special person we see in the mirror.

One of the things that we did at our last In-House Day Seminar was to make little prayer parcels containing a pinch of tobacco, sunflower seeds and lavender from my garden, and as we made them, we thought of our family and friends, of the desires and plans that we want to manifest, then we strung them all together and hung them on a tree for the day. Now we will place all these wishes and dreams on a small bonfire and as they burn, our hopes and thoughts will be sent into the heavens with the knowing that all our prayers are always answered.

Doing something that honours this season is good for your spirit even if it is simply scuffing in some autumn leaves; my favourite place is Seawinds up at Arthur's Seat. It all comes back to remembering the very being of who we are, that we are a part of nature, and also giving ourselves the time

to enjoy , to embrace, and to encourage each other

to make the most of the simple joys in life.

Coming together here today we honour each other,

acknowledging we are a community of like minded people,

people who are working together to uplift our spirits,

to gain balance and perspective in our lives,

to learn something new or remember something old.

In effect we give each other a perfect day of Work, Rest and Play.

Come along for the Day

Stay and Play

We have such a lot of fun wherever we go and the atmosphere is great.

IN-HOUSE DAY SEMINARS

9.30AM-4.30PM

The delight of the In-House Day is that we always know we are going to have a great time and never quite know what to expect which is part of what we love about the day.

We had a fabulous day, as mentioned before we welcomed the day in by making prayer parcels, and being aware of the time of year we are in, we opened the day to the energy sitting around the Crystal Mandala.

We studied the Throat Chakra and even learnt a new song together, as the Throat Chakra is about healing and making sound. We worked with the energy of Blue Lace Agate and meditated together to join all these energies with more understanding. After a short but delicious break we worked on; BE BOLD! And Discover the Power of Praise, with lots of small exercises and discussion time. We broke into pairs for sharing energy and after a luxurious luncheon we held our Circle of Light Ceremony and then Rina Merradu led us into a hilarious workshop on; “I am Fantastic Cat”, stretching not only our artistic talents but also our powers of description. This was followed by another period of sharing energy and we finished the day traditionally with apple crumble and great company.

We always welcome newcomers, so please come and join us. Here is what Shannon, a student, thought of the day.

“I am someone who is very nervous and shy with people I don't know but at the Seminar everyone made me feel welcome. The Seminar helped me with my Tarot readings so that I can see now that I can develop this skill further and I feel more confident and comfortable with the possibility of giving readings to str ang ers. It was just great being around warm, friendly and genuine people.”

Our In-House Day Seminar is about bringing balance into our lives. The premises at Bentons Road Community Centre are first class, so if you have a modality to share come along and enjoy this advanced day seminar. Our next one will be held on:

The Light Workers Way HEALING TEAM

Please join us in helping members of our communities who are going through difficult times. Your commitment would be to give a Healing once a fortnight within a team situation. This is a great way to get your hours up if you have just learnt a new modality or to keep your hand in with a modality you love.

Our intrepid group of volunteer Healers are spreading their loving vibrations and we now have three teams going. Our Healing Teams are a work in progress and are learning all the time about how to make this great idea work. Our teams have chosen their own totem so thank you to Kathy the leader of the Ponies Team, Mark the Eagle Team leader and everyone in the Pelican Team.

And our love to Catherine, Malcolm, Deanne and Madge as we work together to become part of their personal healing teams.

So if you have a Healing modality you could volunteer to be part of one of our teams. This is such a worthwhile concept and we are getting great results from the people with whom we work. A big thank you to all involved. Free to join and free to the people receiving the energy, it is fully funded and insured by The Healing Group and The Light Workers Way.

BOOK REVIEW

IT WAS ON FIRE WHEN I LAY DOWN ON IT.

Robert Fulghum

I am so grateful to friends and colleagues who pass books along to me. Moira Hooker is one such friend and I held onto the books she gave me to read. I warned her it might be a while before I return them and she was okay with that, so there they sat on my bookshelves whilst I read another book and another book.

Then I had a really sad happening. My cat who was only seven years old decided to pop off the planet; he became sick on Friday, he had an abscess on the side of his face and despite the vet doing the best he could, and me doing the best I could, he decided it was time for him to go, and sometime on Monday night he died, unexpectedly, unexplainably, he was just gone. As you can imagine it was a shock and I was very, very sad.

I was preparing for my Circle on Tuesday evening, I had already asked an advanced student Julie Hudgson to take the circle – and there squished beside my bookcase was the above book. I picked it up quickly as I was concerned it may be damaged, it wasn't, so decided that I had better take a look at, “It was on fire when I lay down on it”, by Robert Fulghum. I took it as a sign from spirit that this was exactly what I needed to be doing, so I simply sat and read, not having much energy for anything else.

Robert has lived an extraordinary life travelling around the world, holding down several unusual jobs, one of which has been a minister of a Unitarian Church in Seattle for 25 years. During this journey he has been a keen observer of human nature, human strengths and frailties. Robert shares with us wonderful stories that we can all relate to, and he does so with a great sense of humour.

I had never heard of Robert Fulghum before reading this book, but now I feel like he is an old friend and one that I look forward to catching up with again and again through his writing. He gives you a sense of hope, a sense of the ridiculous and every part in between, as he examines his own life and those of people around him.

Now for my trick of just opening the book for a quote. This is the story of a man who, when he was a child during the war, picked up a fragment of a mirror and kept it, and it became a symbol for him,

“I am a fragment of a mirror whose whole design and shape I do not know.

Nevertheless, with what I have I can reflect light

into the dark places of this world

– into the black places, in the hearts of men –

and change some things in some people.

Perhaps others may see and do likewise.

This is what I am about.

This is the meaning of my life”.

Well done, it is an honest book and one that makes you think, and weep, and laugh out loud. I enjoyed every moment and would invite you to search for this book and others by the same author and enjoy them too.

Happy Reading

Sheila Morgan
